BattleBuddies is built for the military community. These rules exist to protect every member on this platform.
Effective: March 2025
The short version: Be genuine. Be respectful. No nudity, no harassment, no fake profiles, no scams. Military service misrepresentation results in a permanent ban. BattleBuddies is for active duty, reserves, and veterans only — act accordingly.
Zero Tolerance: Misrepresenting military service results in a permanent, unappealable ban.
BattleBuddies is exclusively for active duty, reserves, and veterans. Immediate family members (spouses, children, parents, siblings) and all other civilians are not eligible to join. The integrity of this space depends on every member being who they say they are.
Fraudulent military impersonation is also a federal crime under 18 U.S.C. § 704 (Stolen Valor Act). We cooperate with law enforcement on confirmed cases.
⚠️ UCMJ Violations: Immediate Referral to DoD and Civilian Authorities. Any conduct that constitutes a violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) — including but not limited to assault, sexual misconduct, fraud, conduct unbecoming of a service member, or any other UCMJ offense — will result in immediate account termination and referral to any and all appropriate Department of Defense (DoD) authorities, in addition to referral to appropriate civilian law enforcement authorities. This includes but is not limited to the applicable branch's Criminal Investigation Division (CID, NCIS, OSI, CGIS), the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps, and/or military law enforcement. BattleBuddies will preserve and provide all relevant records, communications, and evidence to authorized investigators upon request or as required by law.
⚠️ MILITARY CAREER RISK WARNING
This warning applies equally to Active Duty, Reserves, National Guard, and Veterans — including all branches and commands such as the National Guard Bureau (NGB), Army National Guard (ARNG), Air National Guard (ANG), and all Reserve Components.
Screenshots & Investigations: Messages, photos, and profile content can be screenshotted, forwarded, and used as evidence in military disciplinary proceedings, DoD investigations, courts-martial, or civilian criminal cases. Nothing you share on this platform is guaranteed to remain private. Treat every interaction as potentially viewable by command, military investigators (CID, NCIS, OSI, CGIS, NGB, JAG), or a court.
Criminal & Career-Ending Conduct: Using this platform to pursue relationships involving minors, non-consensual conduct, or harassment is both a crime and a UCMJ violation. Such conduct will result in immediate account termination, mandatory referral to DoD authorities (CID, NCIS, OSI, CGIS, NGB, JAG Corps), and referral to civilian law enforcement. These consequences apply equally to Active Duty, Reservists, and National Guard members.
Verify Before You Connect: Independently verify a match's age, marital status, and rank before pursuing a relationship. Avoid relationships that could create a perceived abuse of rank, position, or authority. When in doubt, consult your chain of command or JAG BEFORE engaging — not after.
How Rank & Branch Are Displayed: Rank and branch are user-entered and optional. BattleBuddies does not independently verify rank or branch information unless explicitly stated. Do not assume that another user's claimed rank, branch, or unit has been independently verified — verify independently when it matters to you. This applies equally to Active Duty, Reserves, National Guard, and Veterans. Reservists and National Guard members have the same rights and responsibilities under this policy as Active Duty members and Veterans.
Personal Expression Disclaimer: Any use of rank, unit names, branch insignia, or military uniforms in profiles is the personal expression of the individual user. It is not an endorsement, sponsorship, or official communication by the U.S. government, the Department of Defense (DoD), the National Guard Bureau (NGB), any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, or any Reserve Component. This applies to all branches and commands, including the National Guard Bureau (NGB), Army National Guard (ARNG), Air National Guard (ANG), and all five Reserve Components.
⛔ Impersonation Is Strictly Prohibited. The following will result in immediate, permanent account termination:
This falls under and strengthens our existing Stolen Valor and military impersonation rules above. Confirmed cases may be referred to law enforcement under 18 U.S.C. § 704.
Uniform Photos — OPSEC Guidance: You may upload photos in uniform, but be aware of operational security (OPSEC) risks. Uniform photos can reveal unit patches, name tapes, base locations, deployment context, and tactical gear configurations. BattleBuddies recommends cropping or blurring unit patches and name tapes before uploading — especially for Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard members. BattleBuddies reserves the right to remove photos that pose apparent OPSEC risks, at our discretion and without prior notice.
We apply a graduated enforcement system based on severity and history. All decisions are made by human reviewers.
| Violation Level | Examples | Consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Minor — First Offense | Mildly inappropriate message, borderline photo, accidental spam | Warning Content removed, warning issued |
| Repeated or Moderate | Continued harassment after warning, repeated rule violations, explicit content | Suspension 7–30 day account suspension |
| Severe | Hate speech, catfishing, solicitation, scam attempts, severe harassment | Permanent Ban Account terminated, no appeal |
| Zero Tolerance | Military impersonation, financial fraud, CSAM, UCMJ violations | Permanent Ban Reported to DoD authorities and civilian law enforcement |
Accounts that are permanently banned may not create new accounts. Circumvention (new email, new device) results in immediate re-ban and potential legal action.
Reporting keeps the community safe. You are not causing trouble by reporting — you're protecting someone.
In-app reporting: Go to the user's profile → tap the flag or "Report" button → select the violation type → add details and submit. You can report profiles and individual messages.
Email us: safety@battlebuddies.com for urgent safety issues or situations that require more context.
What happens after you report:
All reports are confidential. The person you report will never know it was you. We take retaliation against reporters seriously — it results in immediate suspension of the retaliating party.
If you believe your account was actioned incorrectly, you may appeal by emailing appeals@battlebuddies.com within 30 days of the action. Include your account email and a description of what happened. We review all appeals, but cannot guarantee reinstatement.
Zero-tolerance violations (military impersonation, financial fraud, CSAM) are not eligible for appeal.
